FAQ's

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
This is the process of implanting pigment into the skin to create the appearance of natural hair. It is considered permanent makeup. Although it is considered permanent makeup, it does fade over time. Touch-ups are suggested once every 12-24 months in order to keep the color fresh and shape precisely. Please go into this with the expectation that it is meant to

fade. The longer out you have your touch-ups the better your skin is and the better your outcome will be for years to come.

Microblading is meant to be a natural enhancement, and to create the appearance of full, beautiful brows. It looks most natural on clients who already have semi-full brow hair, and are wanting to perfect their shape. The more hair you have, the more natural it will appear.

Microblading heals best on young, healthy skin that is normal-dry.

Oily skin and aging/thin skin are not recommended for microblading. Results will not heal as well, or look as natural. If you have aging or oily skin, you are better suited for a Microshading or Shading!

 WHAT IS SHADING/POWDER BROW?

Powder brows, unlike microblading is a more saturated brow. This is done with an electrical machine and peppered into your skin. The look is more filled in (like make-up) with less trauma to the skin than microblading. Shading brows have no hairstrokes present.

Shaded brows can be done in combination with microblading to add density and blend hairs and hair strokes placed.

IS IT PAINFUL?

Pain tolerance levels vary depending on which area we are working on and can differ from person to person. For all services, a highly-effective topical anesthetic cream is used for numbing during your procedure.

**Please read ALL pre-procedure information to see what you can avoid in order to make your experience more comfortable with optimal results!

**Please note, having services performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure. If you are a frequent smoker, the topical aesthetics used during the treatment will not last as long. Certain medical conditions or medications may affect your sensitivity tolerance to the procedure.

HOW LONG WILL MY PERMANENT COSMETICS LAST?

Cosmetic tattooing is designed to fade over time. Factors such as skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, medications, and pigment color affect the longevity of the tattoo. The sun and some kinds of lighting (tanning beds) can affect the rate at which these pigments are broken down. To take care of your brows follow the aftercare instructions and touch-up your brows every 18-24 months (or as needed). Touch-ups are normal and expected for Permanent Cosmetics.

*Please note that final results vary and CAN NOT be guaranteed due to the nature of skin as it heals. A follow-up appointment is recommended at 4-6 weeks where we can assess your pigment retention and make any necessary changes.

WHAT FACTORS COULD AFFECT MY PERMANENT COSMETICS?

Oily Skin: the more oil in your skin the less crisp heal strokes will look. I might recommend powder effect for these clients.

Smoking: Smokers may notice that their permanent cosmetics fade faster Anemia and iron deficiency: Your body will absorb iron based pigments more quickly which will result in the fading of pigment.

Sun exposure: Sun damaged skin will cause premature fading. Any sunburn or tan skin will need to reschedule when skin is back to normal. Any sun exposure after getting permanent cosmetics will need to apply sunblock and or wear a large hat to cover.

Age and metabolism: The faster your metabolism is, the faster your pigment will fade.

Excessive Bleeding: Excessive bleeding during your appointment will greatly affect how your body absorbs pigment. While this is not entirely in our control, please follow pre- procedure guidelines to help minimize as much as we can. This includes avoiding blood thinning medications, alcohol, and caffeine 24 hours prior to your appointment.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

No Botox, fillers, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, facials of any sort for 30 days before and after your appointment.

If you regularly get your treatment area shaped, waxed, threaded, or tinted, please do so at least 10 days before your appointment. We will shape the treatment area to give you a natural look. Any stray hairs or hairs outside of shape will be taken off during appointment.

Plan your vacations accordingly, it is recommended to plan your trip for a minimum of 14 days.

BEFORE and AFTER the procedure.

  • Avoid any blood thinners 5 days prior to the appointment and 24 hours after.

  • Avoid caffeine for 12 hours prior to the appointment.

  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior to the appointment.

  • If you have been on a prescription for Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure.

  • Chemotherapy/Radiation must be done a minimum of 8 months before getting permanent cosmetics done.

It is required that you avoid SUN and artificial tanning exposure for 14 days prior to and after your procedure. If you come to your appointment with a tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from sun damage, it will take the pigment with it.

The client only in the procedure room. This is a very artistic, focus based, personal, experience any distractions can result in poor communication between artist and client. Please have cell phones on silent as well.

WILL COSMETIC TATTOOING WORK FOR ME?

If you have extremely oily skin, the hair stroke eyebrow technique will NOT work well for you, regardless of the tools used. The constant production of oil will cause the hair strokes to heal with a diffused, softer look. Your end result will look more powdered than you would expect.

If you have little to no existing hair, your tattoo will appear more 2-dimensional than those clients who have more hair naturally.

If you are a frequent smoker, your pigment may fade sooner.

If you are iron deficient or Anemic, your pigment may fade sooner, and bleeding/ bruising may occur during and after the procedure.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have had your treatment area previously tattooed, we cannot predict what the results will be. We won't know what types of pigments or tools were used. In some cases where the previous work is too dark, dense, discolored, or large, tattoo removal may be recommended before we can offer our services. Previously tattooed areas will almost

always require additional sessions and will be charged accordingly.

** You must send pictures at email if you've previously

done work by another artist outside of Adriana's Permanent Makeup.

IS THE EQUIPMENT SAFE AND STERILE?

Of course! I pride myself on having an immaculate and sterile workspace. I only use single use, disposable needles, and supplies. This means that each set-up for each new client is discarded safely afterward. The room is thoroughly disinfected before opening, and after

each procedure, and at the end of each day.

Always feel free to ask me before, during, or after your procedure!

DOING ANY OF THE FOLLOWING WILL COMPROMISE THE RESULTS AND MAY RESULT IN EXCESSIVE BLEEDING:

Do not work out the day of the appointment

No working out the first 3-5 days after your appointment. After those days you can resume your workouts but try to perform low impact workouts that do not include heavy sweating.

Until you reach days 10-14. Any type of excessive sweating will fade out your brows.

Once you are past the 2-week mark you may resume high impact and sweating.

Cleanse your brows morning and evening with soap to keep them clean and bacteria free.

Apply a small amount of balm to both brows 2x a day for 5-10 days. You do not need a lot of balm on them. Apply a pea-size amount.

You may wear make-up around your brows but not on your eyebrows for 10-14 days. be cautious when removing foundation, bronzer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, etc.

Avoid direct sun exposure for 10-14 days. If extended sun exposure is happening you must cover your brows completely with an oversized hat and apply MINERAL sunscreen on them every hour. Direct sun exposure will fade your brows out.

Do not pick at, rub, scratch, or touch the brows. Do not pick the scabs or flakes as they come off, this will remove the pigment in that area and will result in patchiness.

No anti-aging or acne products on your brows ever. Get in the habit of avoiding them when putting on your skincare products.

Retinol use may affect your results long term and can give your brows a more ashy tone. Be aware of this and avoid your forehead when using it.

DO I REALLY NEED A TOUCH-UP APPOINTMENT?

Yes! All permanent cosmetics require 2 sessions. The touch-up appointment allows us to adjust, darken, and asses your pigment retention. The touch-up will increase the longevity of your permanent cosmetics.

DO I NEED A CONSULTATION PRIOR TO MY APPOINTMENT?

We do not offer consultations before booking an appointment. We are happy to answer any and all questions through email or by phone. Your initial appointment has enough time to go over all of your concerns and questions, and the artist will draw on a rough shape to give you

the opportunity to provide feedback.

Your 4-6 week follow-up appointment is approximately 1.5 hours.

YOU CAN NOT RECEIVE PERMANENT COSMETICS IF YOU ARE:

• Pregnant or breastfeeding

• Currently using Accutane, must be off accutane for 1 year

• Have freshly tan or sunburned skin

• Any breakouts in the eyebrow area

• Are on blood thinning medications and antibiotics • Have rosacea

 • Are currently undergoing cancer treatment, and must be off chemo or radiation for 8 months.

WILL PERMANENT COSMETICS REPLACE MY MAKE-UP?

The answer is NO! Please do not get this done with the expectation of never having to wear make-up again. Permanent cosmetics to move your baseline up from what you have into a fuller more defined eyebrow, eyeliner or lip.

My goal is to have you not reach out for make-up as often as you normally would but depending on natural hair growth and make-up preference you might still need to fill in your brows. That being said the shape is much more defined and easier to fill in.

Permanent cosmetics heal into the skin which can result in an ashier appearance. Make-up goes on top of the skin which has a much more vibrant, bolder, and warmer color.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT SHAPE IS BEST?
For the shape, we break it down by:

1. The amount of natural hair you have

2. Where your brows should sit on your face

3. The natural frame of your face, taking into consideration your muscles and bones

4. The thickness that will enhance your face and not take away from it.

This is different for every client that comes to us. We will make sure you have the most natural results that still make you look like you, but better!

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT COLOR TO USE?

When we choose the color we match it to your eyebrow hair color, not the hair on your head. We want the cosmetic tattoo to blend with your eyebrow hairs to create the most natural outcome. If you do not have hair, don't worry we always go with what will look best on you.

Keep in mind that going too dark will overpower your face and look bold and going too light will look faded. We mix and custom colors to create a color suitable for you. Every client has undertones and overtones that we take into consideration as well.

PERMANENT COSMETICS AND PREGNANCY

We cannot perform any permanent cosmetics on clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

You may resume permanent cosmetics 3 months after you are done breastfeeding. This is to protect you and your baby from infections and any other unknowns that may occur.

DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOSIT TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

Yes, we require a deposit and we have to have an active card on file to hold your appointment. This will ensure and hold both parties accountable. Our artists' time is valuable and the appointments are long and late cancellations and no- shows are unfair to them and to other clients who could have taken that time slot.

If you fail to give proper cancellation notice of at least 48-hours, or don't show up for your appointment **ON TIME**, we will charge you for the full service amount.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

We have a strict 48-hour cancelation policy, but deposits are not refundable.

No shows, late shows, and late cancellations will result in a fee of the full service amount. This is non-negotiable and we do not make any exceptions for any reason.

CAN I BRING SOMEONE WITH ME TO MY APPOINTMENT?

We understand that this process can make you nervous and you might want a friend or family member with you for support. Unfortunately, you cannot bring anyone into the treatment room with you. It can be extremely distracting and can take away from the client-artist relationship that we are trying to build.

CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN WITH ME?

I know the appointment times are long but children are not allowed in the studio. I need to ensure that you are relaxed and that I am able to give you the best results possible. There is a lot of equipment around the studio that can be very dangerous for children to be around.
